# MCP setup

The Layo docs MCP lets a coding agent search and read these docs. It's public and read-only, so you need no account or
key.

## Connect [#connect]

The server address is `https://docs.layo.co/mcp`.

## Client setup [#client-setup]

### Claude Code [#claude-code]

Run this in your terminal:

```bash title="Terminal"
claude mcp add --transport http layo-docs https://docs.layo.co/mcp
```

### Cursor [#cursor]

Add this to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`:

```json title="mcp.json"
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "layo-docs": { "url": "https://docs.layo.co/mcp" }
  }
}
```

### Codex [#codex]

Run this in your terminal:

```bash title="Terminal"
codex mcp add layo-docs --url https://docs.layo.co/mcp
```

## What it can do [#what-it-can-do]

- `search` searches the docs.
- `list_pages` lists every page.
- `get_page` reads one page as Markdown.

## Without MCP [#without-mcp]

Add `.md` to any page's address for its Markdown copy, or start from [llms.txt](https://docs.layo.co/llms.txt).
